SHORT-TERM VISA, QUOTA VISA AND EXTRA-QUOTA VISA
Short-term visa
The Schengen visa or Uniform Schengen Visa (VSU) is regulated uniformly throughout the Schengen area. It is valid for the territory of the Schengen Area and issued for short stays, (type C). The maximum duration is 90 days per semester, calculated from the date of first entry. Inputs can be one, two, or more inputs. If the conditions are met, Uniform Schengen Visas valid for one year (C1), two years (C2), three years (C3) or five years (C5) can be issued. As a rule, this type of visa does not allow the issuance of a residence permit. Need a Schengen visa:
✓ those who do not have a valid residence permit issued by the Schengen States;
✓ those who are not citizens of those countries that have signed specific international conventions that allow their fellow citizens to stay, for tourism or work reasons, for a maximum of 90 days every 180 days in the Schengen territory.
The application must be submitted to the consulate of the main country of destination in your country of residence.
Visas at altitude
The in-quota system establishes a maximum number of Italian work visas for one calendar year for specific work activities based on Law Decree 286/1998. Visas of this type are intended to regulate the entry of non-EU nationals for the purposes of subordinate, self-employed and occasional work. For more information about the categories of work and the number of quotas provided for a given year, please refer to the Flows Decree.
Extra Quota Visas
The extra-quota system provides for a series of work visas with no restrictions “outside” this quota. Applicants can always apply for extra-quota permits, as they are not subject to the limitations of the in-quota system.
This is the perfect solution for highly skilled employees, foreigners performing specific tasks, or workers in managerial positions. If you want an alternative to the quota system, you can apply for a Blue Card, an ITC Visa or an Art. 27 letter A.
