Residence permit for subordinate work
A residence permit for employment purposes is issued following the conclusion of a residence contract for work between an employer and a foreign worker.
An employer wishing to hire a foreign citizen residing abroad must submit a request for work clearance to the Immigration Desk, which will be granted on the basis of the entry quotas for work set each year. Once the authorization has been obtained, the foreign worker will be able to apply for an entry visa for work at the Italian representations abroad. Within 8 days of entering Italy, the foreigner will have to go to the Sportello Unico to sign the residence contract and apply for the residence permit.
How long does it last?
✓ 2 years if the employment contract is permanent
✓ 1 year if the contract is fixed-term
What can I do once I have obtained the PSE for subordinate work?

✓ apply for family reunification of spouse, minor children and dependent parents
✓ register with the National Health Service
✓ benefit from social assistance interventions
