Residence permit for sports
The residence permit for sport is aimed at workers who intend to carry out a professional or amateur sports activity at an Italian sports club.
Legislation
This type of residence permit is issued to foreigners who must be employed as a professional or amateur sportsman at an Italian sports club that has obtained, through a request to the national federation to which it belongs, the nominative declaration of consent from CONI, within the limits of the annual entry quotas for foreign sportsmen and women set by the Planning Decree of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. For minor foreign sportsmen (but over fourteen years of age), the request of the sports club is accompanied by the authorization issued by the competent Provincial Directorate of Labor.
What can I do with this permit?
This permit allows you to carry out a subordinate activity as a professional or amateur sportsman on behalf of an Italian sports club.
Procedure
The sports club will have to formulate a residence contract by filling in a special form in order to issue an entry visa for subordinate work/sport. Once the availability of quotas and the Nulla Osta from the Police Headquarters have been verified, CONI will proceed to send the nominative declaration of consent to the competent Diplomatic Representation and One-Stop Shop. Subsequently, within 8 days of entering Italy, the foreign athlete must present himself at the Sportello Unico to sign the residence contract and proceed with the application for a residence permit.
